Requiem high mass for the late Joseph F. Bachmann, prominent Granville pharmacist who died at his home Aug 29, was held Friday morning at St. Joseph church. Rev. J. J. Dalhoff was celebrant, Rev. P. M. Sturm of Mr. Carmel deacon, Rev. Zeno Reising of Alton subdeacon. Rev. Raymond Calkins master of ceremonies. Interment was in St. Joseph cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews: James Full, Tony Bunker and Milo Graff, Jerome Bunkers, Harold Bunkers and Andrew Bunkers.

Jos. F. Bachmann was born May 19, 1888 at Ronkeveil Austria, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bachmann. He received his education in the land of his birth and came to Granville 35 years ago. For 33 years he operated the local drug store. He was a member of the Iowa Pharmaceutical Assn. and of the Greater Granville Club. He was an active member of the democratic party in his younger years and represented his party as delegate to district and state conventions. He was Red Cross chairman of his township for many years. His willingness to serve any good cause made him a valued citizen. He was widely read and well informed on many subjects, and devoted to the land of his adoption. His genial disposition endeared him to a host of friends who will miss his beaming smile and hearty laugh.

On Jan 15, 1918 he was married to Eleanor E. Bunkers in St. Joseph Church in Granville.
He is survived by his wife and four sons and four daughters, namely, Robert of Granville, Helen Mrs. T. D. Sanders of Niantic Conn., Ray of Lafayette Ind. Alice of Carroll, Clarice Mrs. Lloyd Morvek of Sioux City, Emily, Francis and James at home and seven grandchildren. One son Joseph Jr. passed away two years ago.
