Mrs. Julia Dykstra, age 83, of Sheldon, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at her residence.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, September 19, at 11:00am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. The Rev. Luke Wynja will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden.

Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, at the CHURCH. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Julia was born on November 4, 1932, in rural Bigelow, Minnesota, the daughter of Nick and Jennie (Damstra) Wolterstorff. She attended country school through the eighth grade. On June 3, 1955, she married Gerrit Dykstra in Bigelow. They made their home in the Boyden area for 38 years. “Gary” passed away on April 25, 1993, in Sheldon.

Julia then moved to Sheldon, where she was employed at Village Northwest and the Christian Retirement Home.

She was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church and was involved in ladies Bible studies and Coffee Break.

Julia enjoyed sewing, fixing puzzles, reading, walking, flowers, and baking, especially for others. She volunteered at several organizations.

Survivors include her four daughters, Karla De Boer, of Orange City; Lila, and her husband, Doug Penner, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; Tamie, and her husband, Marlin Uittenbogaard, of Boyden; and Melanie, and her husband, Randy Rozeboom, of Sioux Center; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters, Herb Wolterstorff, and his wife, Dorothy, of Flandreau, South Dakota; Cornie Wolterstorff, and his wife, Audrey, of Ocheyedan; Pete Wolterstorff, and his wife, Tena, of Fridley, Minnesota; William Wolterstorff, and his wife, Janice, of Worthington, Minnesota; Matilda Vander Sloot, of Austin, Texas; Ruth, and her husband, Gene De Beer, of Ellsworth, Minnesota; and Jim Wolterstorff, and his wife, Marla, of Park Rapids, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters, Nick Wolterstorff, and his wife, DeLoris; Nellie and her husband, Bob Frieling; Jeanette Wolterstorff; and Katherine, and her husband, Bernie Vander Veen; and a brother-in-law, Gary Vander Sloot.

Memorials may be directed to the Luke Society in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
