Birth: April 9, 1880
Death: November 4, 1940

Mrs. Henry Eggink, for twenty years a resident of Alton, passed on at her home here Monday evening. November 4th. She suffered a stroke on Thursday preceding her death, from which she failed to rally. She had not been in good health for some years but was about the house as usual the day of her attack.

Alice Wielenga was born at Newkirk, on April 9th, 1880, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter L. Wielenga who came to this county from Pella in 1878. She was one of a family of twelve children, only two brothers now surviving.

On May 25, 1805 she was married to Henry Eggink and the couple lived at Orange City until twenty years ago when they came to Alton to engage in the mercantile business.

Mr. Eggink passed on four years ago on November 26, 1936.

Surviving are three children: Coba, Peter and Marlyn, and two brothers, Reinder Wielenga and Lou Wielenga of Orange City.

Two sisters preceded her in death within the past five years.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at the house at 1:15 and at the Christian Reformed Church in Orange City at two o’clock, with Reverend Bronkema in charge. Long ago a member of that church, Mrs. Eggink continued her membership after coming to Alton.

She was a good Christian woman, devoted to her home and family, who have the sympathy of the community in their sorrow.

Messages of sympathy were received from the Eggink relatives in California, including the grandmother, Mrs. A. Eggink, formerly living in Orange City, who went to California last year to make her home with her children there.
