Ernest R. Ernest R. Eason, age 83, of San Diego, California, formerly of Alton, passed away suddenly April 4 in San Diego.

Ernest Ray Eason was born April 24, 1894 in Alton. He moved to California about fifty years ago.

Mr. Eason is survived by his wife, Margaret (Wibiral) Eason; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Ernestine) Blackburn of La Mesa, California; two step-daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Betty) Eason of Alton, and Mrs. Richard (Lillitta) Sartain; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Harry (Zella) De Jong of Orange City; and one son by a previous marriage, Ted Eason of San Diego.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Committal services were held Tuesday, April 11, at the Nassau Township Cemetery near Alton. The Reverend James Ransom of Le Mars officiated. Arrangements were made by the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
