Funeral services for Eddie Buffington were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church, with Reverend M.L. Jones officiating. Burial was at the Valley View Cemetery with World War I Legionnaires serving as pallbearers and World War II Legionnaires from the local post composing the firing squad.

Mr. Buffington died last Wednesday at his home here as the result of a heart ailment. He had attained the age of 52.

Eddie Buffington was born near Rock Valley on April 19, 1894 to Samuel W. and Jennie (Van Burkum) Buffington and spent his childhood in this community. While still in his teens, he moved with his family to North Dakota, where he lived for several years before returning to Rock Valley.

He served with the Army in World War I--spending 11 of his total 13 months army service overseas. Mr. Buffington was a strong supporter of the American Legion and was one of the first members of the local post.

He married Tillie Bender in 1928 while in North Dakota and the newlyweds immediately moved to Rock Valley. To this union were born two daughters, Esther and Betty Carol.

Survivors include his widow, Tillie; both daughters, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Elsie Hand of Sheldon; Ollie of Monroe, Washington; Orval of Sioux Center; William of Rock Valley; Mrs. Max Hamann of this place; Ray of Sheldon; Robert of Onawa; Burnette of Rock Valley; Mrs. Esther Erkes of Sheldon and Warney of Sheldon.
