Last Sunday February 4th our postmaster, J. Meyer, received a telegram from Paonia Colorado informing him that the Rev. P. Lepaltak had died at that place the previous night. Rev. Lepaltak was the pastor of the Reformed church of Alton from the spring of 1892 to the fall of 1903. From here he moved to Portage, Mich., and his last charge was at Goodland, Ind. In 1906 tubercular trouble made it necessary for him to resign as pastor of that church and to move with his family to Paonia where he hoped to find some relief from this wasting disease. Though suffering was somewhat alleviated it soon became evident that death alone could bring final relief. About a year ago his wife died. Since then his daughter Miss Eunice cared for him as nurse till death took him to his heavenly home. The church of Alton holds him in loving remembrance as a faithful pastor and as a friend of all interests dear to the church and people.
