Sioux County Capital July 31, 1947

Cornelius De Jong of Hospers passed away at the home of his daughter Mrs. Ed Van Veldhuizen on Jul 25. He was 78 years old. Mr. De Jong was born March 18, 1869. He was married to Neeltje Bosje in 1891, and they came to America 50 years ago. His wife preceded him in death on May 22, 1932, and three children have also passed away.

Surviving are nine children. Dick of Raymond MN, John of Lynden WA, Jacob still in the Nethrlands, Mrs. Susie Van Veldhuizen of Hospers, William and Charles of California, and George and Chester of Sanborn. There are 43 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday and at the Chr. Ref. Chruch at Hospers. Rev. J. Hollenbeck officiated, assisted by Rev. R. Bronkema of Orange City. Burial was at the Orange City cemetery.
