Sioux County Capital September 28, 1967

Funeral services were held yesterday Wed. at the Trinity Ref. church for Mrs. Richard De Cook 87, with the Rev. Donald Lenderink officiating. Burial was made in Westlawn cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten funeral Home.

Mrs. De Cook, nee Martha Duven was born at Alma, Wisc., on March 30, 1880. She lived in Minnesota and later moved to Iowa. As a widow Mrs. Martha Beyers married Richard De Cook on August 19, 1920, a union which lasted 47 years. Prior to her eleven years of invalidism she was devoted and active in her church, home and community affairs. She was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church.

Mrs. De Cook died at the local hospital on Sunday, Sept. 24. She was preceded in death two months to the day by her husband, Mr. De Cook who died on July 24, 1967, and by two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. William G.(Birdella) Korver, Orange City, Iowa, Mrs. Charles M. (Elsie) Gasse Altona, Ia; Mrs. William (Marie) Saunders, Holland, Mich.; Mrs. Peter (Henrietta) Van Es, Newark, N.J. three sons, Melvin Beyers, Princeton, III., Lawrence De Cook Grand Rapids, Mich.; BernardDe Cook of Wheatridge, Colo.-also 23 grandchildren and 54 great grand children; two sisters, Mrs. William Beckering of Pella, Ia., and Mrs. Simon Spyker of Orange City. Since both Mr. and Mrs. De Cook had always been keenly interested in mission work all memorial gifts will be sent to the mission work of their two grandsons, - Rev. Ronald G Korver in Japan and Rev. Rowland D. Van Es in Tiawan.
