Mrs. John De Cook, nee Gertrude Bomgaars passed from this life very suddenly Saturday Jan 17 at 10:45 p.m. at the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Dick De Cook in O. City. Mrs. De Cook was in apparent health until a half hour before her death, when she was overtaken by a heart attack to which she succumbed.

The departed was born at Pella IA on May 28 1869. She was married to John De Cook of O. City in the year 1890. The couple resided on a farm at Middleburg and they were the parents of one son Deck De Cook, not at O City. After her husbands death 23 years ago she lived with her son and family until the time of her demise.

Survivors are her son, Mr. and Mrs. Dick De Cook; 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Alvin Van Berkum of O City and Mrs. Steve Ekdom of Ames; and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the First Ref. Church of O. City with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made at Middleburg. The Van Etten Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
