Sioux County Capital November 17, 1988

Steve Siebersma, 97, of Orange City, passed away Monday, Nov. 14 at the Orange City Municipal
Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City with the Rev. Ralph A. Pontier officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Steve was born March 2, 1891 in Friesland, The Netherlands, the son of Siebe Siebersma and Lucy Jager Siebersma. He came to the United States as a child with his family and they settled northwest of Orange City. On Dec. 14, 1910 he married Hattie Stapert at Orange City. They farmed in the Boyden and Sheldon areas, moving into Sheldon in 1937. Mr. Siebersma was employed by service stations, and in later years owned and operated Sinclair Service in Sheldon. His first wife passed away Nov. 14, 1961 at Sheldon.

In 1967 he married Anna Sluis at South Holland, IL., and they made their home there. She passed away in 1973. He then returned to Sheldon where he became a resident of the Christian Retirement Home. On Nov. 18, 1975 he married Maggie Kramer at Orange City and they made their home in Orange
City. In 1980 they both became residents of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City, and in earlier years had been an active member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sheldon.

Survivors include his wife; children, Jennie Vanden Berg, Lucy and George Wibben and Geraldine Borgman, all of Sheldon; Steven, Jr. and Fern of Milford, Julius and Anna Mae of Coal City, 111., Cornie and Joan of Watsonville, Calif., and Loretta and Jack Petersen of Worthington, Minn.; step-children
Sophia and Richard Van Zee of Rock Valley, Lucille and Elmer Vande Brake and Hermina and Nelson Muilenburg all of Orange City, Steve C. and Lois of Sioux Center, Edna and Frank Katje of Escondido, Calif., Stanley and Nelvie of Mesa, Ariz., Marjorie and Elmer Hofland and Cornelius, Jr., and Audrey all of Orange City, and Marilyn and Chester Faber of Escondido, Calif.; 21 grandchildren, 30 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a half sister, Emma Kamstra of Orange City and half-sister-in-law, Angie De Jager of Maurice. In addition to his first wives, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jennie; three sons-in-law; two granddaughters; three sisters and one brother.
