Hilary L. Klein, 94 years old, of Granville, IA, died on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Granville Veterans. Visitation with family present will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

Hilary was born March 13, 1922, at Granville, IA, the son of Peter & Catherine (Hodapp) Klein. He was raised in the Granville area and received his education at St. Joseph Catholic School. He then entered the US Air Force serving in Florida. After he was honorably discharged from the Air Force he attended Lincoln Aeronautical School in Lincoln, NE.

On Jan. 23, 1950 he married Pauline Schneider at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA. The couple made their home in the Granville area where Hilary was a mechanic early on and then farmed for many years.

Hilary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Board member of Mid-West Tool Collectors Association, Knight of Columbus, Board Member of Western Cherokee Mutual (Smith Insurance). He was an avid tool collector & wrench maker. He liked to hunt, fish, golf and travel.

Survivors include: his wife Pauline (Polly) of Granville; His children, Dave (Faye) Klein of Granville, Jan Harms of LeMars, IA; Grandchildren, Jill (Travis) Colling and their children Lincoln and Bohdy of Sioux City, IA, Ken Klein of Fort Collins, CO, Katie Klein and fiancé Jordan Johnson of Olathe, KS, Andrew Klein of Granville, Niki (Nick) Westergard and their son Lennon of LeMars, IA, Ryan (Tanya) LaBahn and their daughter Taylor of Dakota Dunes, SD; one sister, Rosemary Braun of Orange City, IA; one brother-in-law, Gordon (Bernice) Schneider of Granville.

Preceded by: his parents; his brother, Charles and three brothers in infancy.

Casket bearers will be Ken and Andrew Klein, Ryan LaBahn, Nick Westergard, Travis Colling and Jordan Johnson.
