Widely Known Farmer Dies
Rein DeBoer, widely known farmer residing three miles north of Ireton, passed away last Friday from double pneumonia. He had been ill less than a week. Mr. DeBoer had been in his normal health until on Monday of last week and when a physician was called on Tuesday the disease had made such inroads upon his lungs that it was then a losing fight.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Monday afternoon from the home and et 2 o'clock from the Christian Reformed church in Ireton of which he was a member. Rev, J. R. Van Dyke had charge of the services and burial rites and interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Pall bearers, neighbors and lifelong friends, were John Medima, Peter Treiber, Peter Statema, H. J. Ten Napel, John Schuller and Simon Vande Gaarde.

Rein DeBoer was born in Maasdon, Friesland, Holland, April 27,1884, and passed from this life May 25, 1034, at the age of 60 years and 8 days. He received his early education in the land of his birth and in the spring of 1904 he with two brothers came to the United States shores to seek their fortune. One brother lost his life in an accidental shooting in Montana, the other settled in Michigan end Rein came to Ireton where he has since resided. On March 3, 1913, he was united in marriage with Maggie Wynalda at Ireton, who survives him.

Mr. DeBoer and his wife operated various farms in this community all this time except for two years when he operated a dray line in Ireton. In 1921 it was the privilege of both Mr. and Mrs. DeBoer to visit the land of their birth and for the deceased it was an unusually happy trip because of the fact that he had the opportunity to visit his mother again. It was always Mr. DeBoer's desire to visit her once more but she passed away from this life a year ago and this happy dream was never realized. The deceased was of a happy genial disposition and scores numbered him as a friend. Although the couple were never blessed with children their home was always open to a child in need.

Reuben and Martha Wynalda, orphaned in their tender age, made their home with them until maturity as well as nieces and nephews. He was a true Christian and loyally supported the church of his choice and it was a well known fact that Christian principles guided his life and an oft made remark was that "his word was as good as his bond." His death is a distinct loss to his home, his community and a sad blow to his grief stricken wife with whom he enjoyed many years of happy companionship.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Drost Jr. and three children, Mr. ant Mrs. A. Deelstra and six children and Harry Wynalda of Parker, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wynalda and. Daughter of Monroe, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Drost Sr. of Marion, S. D., and Mr. and Mrs. Otto DeJong and children of Maurice.
