From the Alton Democrat, July 22, 1916: Rock Valley news:

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. John Koel, living east of town, died of pneumonia the 14th inst., and was buried Saturday, after a short funeral service conducted at the home. Mr. and Mrs. Koel have the sympathy of their many friends in the loss of their babe.
