FRED DAWSON RITES HELD TUESDAY
Funeral services for Fred Dawson, 78, who died Sunday at the Hawarden hospital following a short illness, were held at the Associated church Tuesday with Rev. Herbert Young officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home. Mrs. Hal Shoemaker was organist, and Mrs. Ralph Gregg, Jr., sang "Sometime We'll Understand" and "My God and I." Active casket bearers were Norman Degen, R. H. Hodoway, Curtis Vipond, Hal Shoemaker, Ralph Gregg, and Clarence Ver Hoeven. Honorary casket bearers were Will Gregg, Harold Shoemaker, Lee Keehn, Harry Hodoway, Earl Slife, Sr., and Peter Fath.

Mr. Dawson was born January 10, 1891, in Union county, South Dakota. He married Margaret Storm September 13, 1917, in Glidden. Mrs. Dawson died January 18, 1960. He farmed in the Hawarden area until retirement in 1958. He was a member of Dale Lodge 456, A. F. & A. M., and a charter member of the Rural Electrification Administration.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ai (Miriam) Leuthauser of Cresco and Mrs. Dale (Dorathy) Green of Estherville; a son, James of Hawarden, and nine grandchildren.
