HOLD LAST RITES FOR BEN LAMEIJER

Funeral services for Benjamin Lameijer, 76, long time resident of Rock Valley, were held yesterday (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. in the Methodist church. Rev. M. L. Jones officiated and burial was made at the local cemetery. Mr. Lameijer died here on Saturday.

Mr. Lameijer was born in Holland on September 6, 1869 and spent most of his youth in that country. He was married there but lost his wife just prior to his coming to the United States in 1901. Upon arriving in this country, Mr. Lameijer journeyed to the Midwest and the same year came to live and work in Rock Valley. Although in various types of work, he for the most part was engaged in day labor during his 46 years sojourn in this community.

He is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Jerry Blum and Mrs. Henry Zwart, both of Madison, South Dakota.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Lameyer, Benjamin, b. 1869 d. 1948, Brother, Valley View Cem Rock Valley IA. Other family entries in the Index also use this spelling.

Subsequent announcements about the administration of his estate also use the spelling Lameyer. A follow-up article in the Bee (April 29) says that his estate was valued at about $3248.76 in Rock Valley real estate, cash, bonds and notes, and household goods. It went in equal parts to Harmka Bloem and Harmina Zwart.
