Hawarden Independent July 1, 1976

Mrs. John Dalton, 72, of Hawarden died June 27 at the Hawarden hospital. Services were at 10:00 a.m. June 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden. The Rev. William Carel officiated Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rosary was said at 8:00 p.m. June 29 at the Dow Funeral Home of Hawarden.

Mrs. Dalton, the former Mary Martina Murray, was born January 30,1904 in Elk Point, S.D. She attended St. Theresa College in Winona, Minn, and she graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1926 and taught in Sherman S.D. from 1926 to 1929. She married on October 2,1929 at Elk Point and had lived in Hawarden since 1929. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Society and Guild and she was active in community activities.

Survivors include the widower; a daughter, Mrs. John (Jeanne) Landwehr of Mayville, N.D.; two sons. Joseph of Boise, Idaho and Stephen of Knoxville; two sisters Mrs. Dan McKalvie of Sioux City and Miss Grayce of San Francisco; a brother, Leonard of Detroit, Mich; and six grandchildren.
