From the Alton Democrat, June 19, 1915:

Emma Christine Shroder died at her home in Sheldon Thursday June 10 of apoplexy. Deceased was born in Oberndorf, Hanover, Germany Aug. 1, 1853 coming to the States in 1875 and to Sioux county in 1878. She was married to John Shroder in Germany in 1875. Nine children were born to them, seven of whom survive. The funeral was held Sunday June 13 from the Lutheran church north of Boyden, Rev. W. Baetke officiating.
