A Splendid Man Gone.
Death of E. G. (Elliott ) Crouch Occurs at His Home Here Saturday
E. G. Crouch died at this home in this city last Saturday after an illness which extended over many months. He was a patient sufferer and bore his ills with manly fortitude and was always looking to the comfort of those about him. In his death the community loses a splendid citizen, a loyal friend and a Christian gentleman. Higher praise can be said of no man. The funeral was held from the home Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock and he was laid to rest in Grace Hill cemetery in this city.

Elliot Green Crouch was born at Millegeville, IL., Sept. 7, 1850. He was married in 1875 to Martha Van Dusen. To them were born two children, Norman and Stella. In 1877 the family moved to Crawford county, Iowa, and in 1883 to Grundy county, where his wife died.

In 1892 he was married to Miss Annie Gregg, and from this union as son, Harold was born. His death occurred two years ago at the age of thirteen. The family came to Hawarden in 1901, and has lived here ever since. With the exception four years spent at Montrose, S. D. Mr. Crouch was an honored member of the Masonic order. He was a Christian man in faith and life. He united with the church in early manhood, and was made a member of the session of the Presbyterian church during his residence in Hawarden. His death occurred after an extended illness on Aug. 3, at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 26 days.

He is survived by his wife Annie, son Norman and his daughter Stella, also two brothers, W. B. Crouch of Storm Lake, and Scott Crouch of Washington, and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Yocom of Illinois.
