FINAL RITES FOR MRS. GEO. CROUSE
Funeral services for Mrs. George N. Grouse, who passed away at Zeeland, Mich,, were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Brown, north east of Hawarden, at 2:36 last Thursday afternoon. Rev. Ralph Woolston of Sutherland, and Rev. David Bonnema of Zeeland, in charge of the services. Mrs. Ralph Doty, with Miss Ella Fleshman as accompanist sang, The Old Rugged Cross, and Sometime..We'll Understand. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton.

Catherine Elizabeth, daughter of Philip and Elizabeth Smith, was born At Aswand, Ohio, Jan. 14, 1860. She was the sixth child of a family of 13 children. Two of whom died in infancy. Her father passed away in May, 1875. Her mother, with her family, lived in Ohio until the year 1884, when they mover to Blairstown, in Benton county, Iowa. In October, four years later, they moved to Ireton in Sioux county. She was united in marriage to George N. Crouse, in January, 1896.

To them were born two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Harley Brown of Hawarden, Iowa, Mrs. Rev. David Bonnema of Zeeland, Mich., and Harry and Lester H. Crouse of Paullina. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Crouse farmed in the vicinity of Ireton until 1919, when they purchased and moved to the farm near Paullina, now occupied by Harry Crouse. They retired from the farm in 1924 and moved to Paullina, where she resided till the autumn of 1941. Since that time she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Harley Brown, and passed away while visiting in the home of her daughter Mrs. Bonnema, 3:30 a.m. on June 23, after an illness of three months, at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 9 days Her husband George N. Crouse passed away Feb 12, 1935. Besides her children she is survived by 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother. They are Mrs. Jane Weaver of Milaca, Minn., Mrs. Minnie Rickard of Miles City, Mont., and G. W. Smith of Paullina, lA.

She was converted early in life, and united with the United Brethren church. She was a charter member of the Mt. Joy Church of God later transferring her membership to the Maple Grove Church of God, Peterson, lA.

Bonnema and son, Clarence of Zeeland MI, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crouse and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Crouse and son, Howard, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith and daughter, Maurine, Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Smith; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Smith, of Paullina; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith, Jr., of Cleghorn, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Smith and daughter and Winton Smith of Hartley; Mrs. Ross Day of Le Mars; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Knapp of Sioux City; Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Woolston of Sutherland, and Mrs. Ben Kooi and daughter of
Carmel, Iowa.
