Louis E. Berreth, 67, of Hawarden, died Sunday, July 19, 1992 a the Hawarden Community Hospital.

Memorial Graveside Services are pending with the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mr. Berreth was born September 3, 1942, at Tyndall, South Dakota, the son of Gustav and Emma (Schneider) Berreth. He served in World War II with the U.S. Army at the European Theater and received the Purple Heart. He married Doris Schlueter on February 28, 1947, at Storm Lake. They made their home in Hawarden where he was a rural mail carrier for 33 years. He was also a part time police officer for several years. Mrs. Berreth died June 18, 1985.

Mr. Berreth was a member of the VFW and American Legion of Hawarden.

Survivors include a son, Tim and his wife, Michelle of Hawarden; two daughters, Barbara Holznagel of Manden, North Dakota and Mrs. Dennis (Marcey) Vogt of Petaluma, California; one brother, Rudy of Sioux Falls; three sisters, Mrs. George (Frieda) Menkens of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mrs. Harry (Alma) Spencer of Omaha, Nebraska and Mrs. Dick (LaVerne) Madock of Hawarden; and nine grandchildren.
