George Berner Killed in Car Acccident in Sioux Falls; Funeral to be Thursday

Sioux Falls second traffic fatality of 1956 came early Sunday when 17 year old George W. Berner, son of Mr. and Mrs, Ray Berner of Rock Valley, died in a three-car collision on E. 10th street in Sioux Falls.

Two 15-year-old boys were injured, one seriously. Injured were John, son of Mrs. Nettie J….., and Roger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur H…...

Berner was dead upon arrival at Me Kennan hospital. His car, proceeding west in the 1100 block of E. 10th street in Sioux Falls, struck another vehicle, then crashed nearly headon into the G. boys' car. Time of the accident was 12:30 a.m.

Funeral services for George W. Berner was at 1 p. m. Thursday at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Rock Valley, and at 1:30 p.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church south of Rock Valley. Reverend Henry Prieb officiated and burial was in the Valiey View Cemetery here.

The youth was born April 22 1939 at Rock Valley. He had attended the public school and was to be a senior this year.

Survivors besides his parents are three sisters, Rose Marie, Wilma Joanne and Thelma Rae and a brother Raymond all of Rock Valley.
