Elmer Christensen, 60, of Granville, died Tuesday in a hospital in Orange City of sudden illness.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Granville. The Rev. Francis Nemmers and the Rev. Gary Snyder officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen. The Rosary was recited at 4:30 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 p.m. and by the parish at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Spalding Hall in Granville.

Mr. Christensen was born Aug. 27, 1919, at Granville. He was a lifelong area farmer. He married Viola Baack Jan. 5, 1943, at Le Mars. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Granville.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Thomas of St. Paul, Minn., Frank of Anker y and Steve of Granville; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Joyce) Goergen of Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Lament (Norma) Schreurs of Ankeny, Mrs. Donald (Dianne) Krier of Paullina; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. James (Mary) Beck of Granville; one half-brother, Ed Vonderhaar of Granville, four half-sisters, Mrs. William (Bertha) Verschoor, Mrs. Peter (Louise) Verschoor and Mrs. Hank (Caroline) Boersma, all of Sioux City, and Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Foreman of Sheldon.
