Death of Pioneer lady
Jane Trutan Chenhall was born in Cornwall England Oct 1, 1832, and died at her home east of Ireton Jan 2, 1914, being 81years, 3 months and 1 day old. She was married to Stephen Chenhall July 21, 1849. She came to this country when a child with her parents and settled in Wisconsin. Thirty five years ago they came west and settled on the farm five miles southeast of Ireton, where she has resided ever since. Her husband passed away Jan. 21, 1903, Mrs. Chenhall is survived by nine living children, son, James, having passed-away-in 1905.

Those surviving are as follows: Mrs. E. A, Simons of Cherokee county, Mrs. M. T. Parkison of Canada, Mrs. E. J. Walker, J. T. Chenhall and Mrs. Addie Vander Ham of Ireton, Chas. D. Chenhall of Oklahoma, Mrs. Minnie Hitchcock of Hawarde, Mrs. W. M Thomas of Springfield, S. D., and Raymond Chenhall of Denbigh, N. D.

When a young girl Mrs. Chenhall embraced Christianity and united with the Primitive Methodist church and on coming to Ireton united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which she has been a constant member. She was a woman of many excellent traits of character, a kind friend and a good neighbor. The funeral was held from St. John’s Lutheran church Monday afternoon and was largely attended by friends and neighbors. The following from other places were in attendance Philip Hewettof Mineral Point, Wis., Mrs. Woodall of Sutherland, Mr. and Mrs. Woodall of Struble, Chas. Chenhall of India, Okla., Wm. Hitchcock of Hawarden, and Mr. and Mrs. Simons of Marcus. Rev. Mark Masters, her pastor, had charge of the service and was assisted by Rev. Dr. Jackson. Six grandsons acted as pall bearers
