Norman A. Bruget, 75, of Huron, SD, formerly of Hawarden, died Monday, August 9, at the Huron Nursing Home. Services were Friday, August 13, at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Burial with Military Rites was in the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Visitation was at noon on Thursday, August 12, with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mr. Bruget was born November 20, 1917, at Irene, SD, the son of Rasmus and Helen (Maggi) Bruget. He attended grade school and high school at Irene and then moved with his family to a farm north of Hawarden. He helped farm the family farm until he joined the Merchant Marines. After serving his tour in WWII, he returned to farm with his mother. He married Lois Ahmann on July 5, 1946, at the Methodist Church in Hawarden. They lived in Armour, SD, where he ran a plumbing business. They later lived in Gillette, WY. Due to his health, they moved to Huron three years ago. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Huron; 2 daughters, Sue and her husband, Don Johannsen, of Miller, SD, and Mary and her husband, Doug Danncn, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 2 sons and their wives, David & Kendra of Billings, MT, and Jim & Roberta of Sioux Falls, SD; 2 granddaughters and 3 grandsons; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Gregg of Hawarden, and Mrs. Marie Brockmueller of Yankton, SD; 2 brothers, Ralph of Hawarden, and Don of Malibu, CA.
