Funeral Service For Miss Quinlan Held on Thursday
Pioneer Resident Long Time; Taught Schools 30 YearsFuneral services for Miss Mary Quinlan, a resident of the Rock Valley community all her life, and a teacher in the rural schools near here for 30 years, were held Thursday morning, May 28, at St. Mary's church, with Rev. Father David McGoey officiating. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
Palbearers were Clarence Schemmer, Paul Frembgen, Walter McNamara, Will Hevern, Lawrence Richter, and John Kearns.
Miss Quinlan passed away at her home here Monday, May 25, after a lingering illness. She leaves to mourn her passing two brothers: Jim Quinlan of Rock Valley, and Tom Quinlan of Worthing, S.D. a sister, Mrs. Belle Crandall, preceeded her in death.
Miss Quinlan was born on a farm near Rock Valley June 7, 1876 the daughter of Edward and Anne Quinlan. She grew to womanhood here, and spent most of her life here. She taught in the rural schools and especially in District No. 5 for many years.
Relatives and friends who attended the funeral rites here Monday included: Mr. and Mrs. John McEnroe of Algona, Mrs. John Keegan and Mrs. Joe Ryan of Doon, Edward Maguire and E. P. Manning of Sioux City, Earl, Katheryn, and Tom Solon of Madison, S. D., Mrs. E. M. Whalen, Mrs. Percy Keegan, Mable Mundt, Cecil Whalen, of Sioux Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Manning, Mr. and Mrs. James Flanagan and Muriel Flanagan of Rock Rapids and Mrs. Avis Wenzel of Milw.
