Earl L. Ostlund, age 95 of Hawarden, passed away May 27, 1993. Services were held Saturday, May 29, at Wass Funeral Chapel in Alcester. Rev. Ross Aalgaard officiated. Mr. Ostlund was born March 17, 1898, in Clay County, SD, to parents Eric and Christina (Grav) Ostlund. He received his early education in the Dalesburg area. He later joined the U.S. Army and served in Kitty Hawk, NC. After his discharge he returned to South Dakota and on May 8, 1934, he married Margaret Hammerstrom at Le Mars. The couple made their home in Vermillion until 1936 when they moved to a farm south of Alcester. They retired in 1975 and moved into Hawarden.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald of St. Paul and Jerome of Minneapolis; and one daughter, Kathleen (Mrs. Earl Austad) of Rockford, MN; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret
