Hold Last Rites Here Today For Gerrit Van Beek

Last rites for Gerrit Van Beek, 60, will be held today (Thursday) at 12:30 at the home at 2:00 o'clock in the Netherland Reformed church, with Rev. John Van Zweden officiating. Burial will be made in the Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Mr. Van Beek died of a heart ailment at his home on Sunday, March 4. He was born on November 4, 1890, in Bennekom, Gelderland, Netherlands, and came to America at the age of two. He was united in marriage to Clara Buma. March 6, 1912. They lived on a farm north of Rock Valley until Mr. Van Beek, retired in October, 1947, when they moved to Rock Valley.

Mrs. Van Beek and seven children survive: Peter, Agnes (Mrs Jim Blom), Harry, Nick, Mease, Everdena (Mrs. Wm. Koedam), and Simon, at home. Other survivors include ten grandchildren, three brothers: Peter, of Jennison, Mich., Nick of Kent City, Mich., Mease of Hawarden, and three sisters: Mary (Mrs. Siebert Kooima) of Rock Valley, Nellie (Mrs. Albert Ten Kley) of Sheldon and Alice (Mrs. John Den Boer) of Rock Valley.

Pallbearers will be Wm. Fluit, Peter Hoogedoorn, Art Van Veldhuizen, Cornelius Blom, Lane Rozeboom and Wm. Schelling.
