Funeral Services for Herman Reit, Sr.Here on February 14

Herman Reit, Sr. 86, resident of the Sheldon home for the past year, died Sunday morning, February 11. He suffered a paralytic stroke and was ill for about five days. Last rites were held Wednesday, February 14, at the Sheldon home and at the Netherland Reformed church in Rock Valley, with Rev. J. Van Zweden officiating. Interment was made in the Valley View cemetery. Mr. Reit was born on May 7, 1864, in Bellingwolde, Netherlands. He was united in marriage to Jennie Boog. They came to America in 1892 and settled in the Rock Valley vicinity. They farmed until 1917, in which year they moved, to Rock Valley.
Survivors include seven children, Mattie (Mrs. Siebert Terpstra) of Hull, Herman of Alvord, George of Pueblo, Colo., Frank of Bakersfield, Calif, Dick of Benton, Ky., Marion of Beresford, S. D., William of Hull, 26 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. His wife preceded him
in death in 1948 and a son, John in 1935.
