Nels W. Westergard, 79, of rural Worthing, died Friday, January 6,1989, in a hospital in Sioux Falls. Services were 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 1989 in Anderson Funeral Home in Canton with the Rev. Henry Kor officiating. Burial was in Lands Cemetery, rural Hudson.

Mr. Westergard was born December 3, 1909, in Hawarden. He lived in Hawarden and Alcester. On June 10, 1933, he married Irene Twedt at Canton. She died in 1977. He fanned in the Worthing and Harrisburg area.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Virgene) Van Dierendonck of DeWitt, Alice Davis, of Omaha and Mrs. DeWayne (Nancy) Glasscow of Underwood; two sisters, Mrs. Ruben (Marian) Malm of Omaha and Delia Erickson of Rapid City and three grandchildren.
