David Michael Lauters, 26, of Marcus died Tuesday, January 17,1989, of injuries suffered in two- vehicle accident near Marcus. Services were held Friday, January 20, in Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus with burial in Holy Name Cemetery.

Mr. Lauters was born June 16, 1962, in Le Mars. He graduated from Marcus High School in 1980 and Iowa Lakes Community College in 1982. He married Michele Smith, a former Hawarden resident, September 1,1984, at Marcus. The couple farmed in the Marcus area. Mr. Lauters was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jonathan and a daughter, Lindsey, both at home; his parents Pete and Rosie Lauters of Marcus; two brothers, Ron of Fayette, AL., and Rick of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Mrs Alex (Debbie) Paul of Sweet Home, OR., and Mrs. Norm (Diane) Wernimont of Auburn, and grandmothers, Mrs.. Ray Lauters of Marcus, and Mrs. Jim Engebrigtson of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers.
