From the Rock Valley Bee, May 15, 1914:

DEATH OF MRS. M. C. PEMBER

The Akron Register-Tribune gives the following account of the death of Mrs. M. C. Pember, mother of our townsman H. H. Pember, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. F. Cobb, Tuesday morning, May 5, mention of which was made in last week's Bee:

"Mrs. M. C. Pember passed away at her own home, which is also the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. F. Cobb, on Tuesday morning, May 5, 1914, at 2 o'clock, after an illness of several weeks, aged 79 years and 8 months.

Mrs. Pember was born in New York State in 1835, and, when a little girl, moved with her parents to Wisconsin. Some sixteen years ago she came to Akron, where she has since lived as an honored citizen, a loving friend and neighbor. She has gained the reward which she truly merits. Our sympathy is extended to the family and friends. We, as members of the church, and friends will miss her kind words and friendly greeting, but submit to the will of the all-wise Father in Heaven.

Services were conducted by Rev. C. Wesley Fletcher, pastor of the Baptist church, of which she was a member, at the home at 9:30 o'clock this (Thursday) morning. The remains were conveyed on the morning train to Spencer, Iowa, where the interment will be made."
