Peter Baartman died very suddenly at his home near Middleburg on Saturday August twenty seventh. He ate his dinner on Saturday and took his nap as usual. He was found dead a few hours later. Deceased was born in Holland in 1847 and came to Sioux County in 1885. He was a well known and respected citizen. Deceased is survived by his wife and nine children; Mrs. Mary Moret and Herman of Boyden, Mrs. Cora Lems, Mrs. Anna Van Oort, Mrs. Van Zee, Bert and Peter of Middleburg, Mrs. Lizzie Doppenberg and Arie of Lime Spring.

The funeral was held at Middleburg from the Reformed church on Tuesday Revs. Voortman and Douwstra had charge of the services.

(from familysearch.org found that his wife was Elizabeth Huisman 1850-1919. His parents were Bartus Baartmen and Krena Van Gonever. Peter was born 6 Jan 1849 and died 27 Aug 1910, buried in Middleburg, Iowa .
