Hawarden Independent December 24, 1987

Nellie M. Ludwig, 65, died Sunday December 20, 1987, in a Hawarden hospital. Services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 1987, at the Big Springs Baptist Church, in rural Alcester. The Rev. Doug Olson officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden. The Casket Bearers were: Jerry Eilers, Elmer Witt, Dick Hughes, Bernard Bergdale, Jame Leafstedt and Harry Kratochvil.

Mrs. Ludwig, the former Nellie Mae Bedard, was born March 22, 1922, at Hawarden. She married Stanley Ludwig, January 7, 1941, at Dakota City, NE. The couple lived at Everly, for nine years before moving to Alcester. She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Gloria) Finch, of Hawarden, and Barbara Kuss, of Phoenix, AZ; three sons, James, of Phoenix, Kenneth, of Hawarden, and Dennis of Alcester, a brother, Alfred of Odessa, MO; 16 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
