Sioux County Index March 13, 1969

Mrs. Garret Vink, 82, passed away in the Rock Rapids Hospital March 5 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday March 8, at Hull, Rev. David Ter Beest, officiating.

Special music was a trio consisting of Mrs. David Ter Beest, Mrs. Art David Ter Beest, Mrs. Art De Jong, and Mrs. Lloyd Woelber who sang ‘Safe in the Arms of Jesus:. Mrs. Vernon De Jongh served as organist. The audience sang ‘All the Way My Savior Leads Me”. Pall bearers were grandsons: Kenneth Verburg, Rodney Vink, Jerry Scholten, Garrit Vink, Harlan Norman, and Gerrit Van Leeuwen. Burial was in Hope Cemetery, with Kraai Funeral Home in Charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Garret (Annie) Vink was born December 14, 1887, to Mr. and Mrs. Dores TeBrink (TenBrink) in the Netherlands at the age of six months with her parents and brother came to America. They first settled in Greenleafton, MN, for 19 years. On Sept 28, 1910 she was united in marriage to Garret Vink at Marion, ND. To this union nine children were born. The first five years of farming were in ND, then they moved to Belgrade, MN for twelve years. They then moved to a farm north of Hull, IA. The years of 1946 they retired and resided on 102 Elm Street. For the past 14 months they were resident sof the pleasant Acres Nursing Home at Hull due to their health

She is survived by her husband , Garret, 4 sons and 3 daughters: DeLmar of Luverne, Minn., George of Hull, Iowa, Mrs. Harry Norman (Alice) of Ogilvie, Minn., Mrs. John Van. Leeuwen (Nettie} of Hull, lowa, Albert of Rock Valley, Iowa, Mrs. Richard Verburrg (Marian) of Rock Valley, Iowa, Henry of Colton, South Dakota, Mrs. Bernard L, Scholten (Anna) of Grand Rapids, Mich. , Mrs. John Reuvers (Bernice) of Hull, Iowa; also 38 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson Harold Vink and an infant great graadson. Also surviving her is her brother Bert Te Brink of Orange City, Iowa, 2 step brothers Henry and Wilbur Sikkink of Parker, South Dakota, and 2 step sisters, Mrs. Jennie Roos of Belgrade MN, and Mrs. Alice Ihen of Parker SD, and many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Vink will be greatly missed by everyone as she was always so willing to help others in life in a living and Christian way.
