Born: 1881
Died: 1937Garth W. Davis, a former well-known resident of Hawarden, died last Friday at the government hospital in Washington, D.C. of which he has been an inmate for a number of years. Tuberculosis was the immediate cause of his death. He was a soldier in the Spanish-American war and served three years in the Philippines. It was probably during this service that the insidious disease fastened itself upon his system.
He was a nephew of Mrs. D.O. Stone and made his home with her during his boyhood. He leaves a wife, Victoria Holmguist Davis, who is making her home in Minneapolis, and three sisters to mourn his death. Interment was made in the Soldiers National Cemetery at Arlington, Virginia.
