Charles Oscar Winquist, 77, of Sacramento, California, a former resident of Alcester and Big Springs, died Sunday after an extended illness from diabetes and heart trouble.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Sacramento and burial was in that city.

Mr. Winquist farmed in the Alcester and Big Springs vicinity for many years. Later in his life he sold insurance in the Sioux Valley territory. He went to California in 1951 to make his home.

He was born June 17, 1877, at Kiron but he moved to the Alcester vicinity as a young man. He was married to Miss Signa Cedegren while living at Alcester. Later he moved to the Big Springs vicinity where he also farmed.

While in Alcester he united with the Baptist Church and later transferred to the Big Springs Baptist Church. After moving to Sacramento he became a member of the First Baptist Church in that city.

Besides the widow, he is survived by three sons, Norris and Elwood of Akron and Wallace of Portland, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Darrell Evans of Sacramento and Mrs. Anna Almgren of Jamestown, New York; two sisters, Nellie and Nettie Winquist of Kiron, Iowa and seven grandchildren.
