Funeral services for Jay Gleason, over 60, former longtime Hawarden resident and cousin of Mrs. Vernon Knight, were held Friday in a Catholic Church in Yakima, Washington, with burial there. Mr. Gleason died after a couple weeks of illness, apparently from a blood disease.

While here Mr. Gleason worked on farms in the area and later was the night clerk at the Gladstone Hotel. After residing here over 20 years he moved to Yakima about three years ago to be near his brothers and sisters. He never married.

Mr. Gleason was a former member of St. Mary’s Parish here, having come to Hawarden from Tyndall, South Dakota.
