Hawarden, IA: Gerald (Beav) Engleman passed away at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the age of 79. Visitation with the family present will be 6:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. A burial service will be held at a later date in Louisville, Kentucky at the Jeffersontown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Sioux Athletic Boosters or the Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital Foundation. Gerald (Beav) was born in Louisville, Kentucky on February 16, 1936. He graduated from St. Xavier High School in Louisville. He married Barbara Fischer on April 12, 1958. Jerry was employed and retired from General Electric in Louisville. He was a Supervisor at the plant for 37 years. He enjoyed bowling, golf, watching sports especially Louisville Basketball, and attending horse races. He loved Churchill Downs where he attended the Kentucky Derby every year. Beav also enjoyed following his grandchildren in all their activities at West Sioux.

Jerry and Barbara were blessed with four boys, Brian (and Karen) of Hawarden, Jerry (and Missy) of Louisville, Kentucky, Billy Engleman of Burkburnett, TX, and Dan Engleman of Beresford, SD; four grandchildren, Jason (Kayla) Engleman of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Nic Engleman of Hawarden, Sam Engleman (Max Burgeson) of Okoboji, Iowa and Brittany Engleman of Louisville, KY; three great grandchildren, Ellie, Mattie and Taysom Engleman; brother, Jim Engleman; his wonderful home nurse, Ella Parmeter; and his good friend, Steve (legend) Johnson.

Beav was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; his parents, Amzie and Lucille Engleman; daughter-in-law, Joyce Engleman; brother, Tom Engleman; and sister-in-law, Gail Angermeier.
