Arie Kuyper died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Arie Verdoorn four and a half miles southwest of Boyden August fourth of heart disease. Death came very suddenly as he was sick less than half a day. Mr. Kuyper was born in Holland May thirtieth 1859 and was therefore fifty one years old when he died. He came to the United States with his parents when only a small boy. In 1863 he was married to Katie Vander Meer at Pella. No children came to bless this union but Mr. and Mrs. Kuyper have adopted five children three of whom remain to mourn the loss of one they had learned to love as a father.

In 1891 the family moved to Sioux county where Mr. Kuyper farmed until he retired a few years ago. He was a much respected citizen and a prominent member of the Reformed church and held the oflice of trustee of Sherman township, He is survived by his wife and the following brothers and sisters: Jim of Corsica South Dakota,. Cornelius of Grand Rapids Michigan, Mrs. B. Bruins of Little Rock New Jersey, Mrs. D. J. De Hoogh of Boyden, Miss Dena and Mrs. Jim Rampa and Mrs. C. Ver Hey of Pella. He is also survived by Mrs. Arie Verdoorn, Ferril and Waneta—adopted children.

The funeral was held Tuesday August ninth from, the Reformed and Presbyterian churches and was conducted by Revs. Van Houte and Howie. Interment was made in Boyden cemetery. Jim Kuyper and
daughter of Corsica South Dakota and Jim Rampa and brother of Pella and Mr. Vis of Harrison were here to attend the funeral which was a large one, friends from all over the country having gathered to pay their last respects.
