Hawarden Independent October 27, 1966

One Of Oldest Residents Dies Miss Lettie Storts, who at was one of Hawarden's oldest residents, died Wednesday of last week at a nursing home here where she had resided six years.

Miss Storts was born January 28, 1871, to Sarah and Alexander Storts in Washington county, Ohio and came to Dakota territory when 6 months old. At the age of 8 she moved with her family to Calliope, She was the last survivor of 11 children.

Survivors include eight nieces and three nephews. Funeral services were held at the Barnard-Dow Funeral home with Rev. Norval Wigtil officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery. Mrs. Pete Sinkey was organist. Harold Vander Schoor sany ‘Rock of Ages” and “the Old Rugged Cross”. Casket bearers were Kay Pockington, Elton Schlueter, Don -Schlueter, Gene Case and Roy Mapes.
