Henrietta Wilhelmina "Etta" Huff, 84, of Akron died Thursday, February 2, 1995, at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center.

Mrs. Huff was born May 12, 1910, in Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of John and Margaret (Stahlbaum) Tieden. A lifelong resident of the Hawarden, Akron area, she graduated from Hawarden High School in 1928. Following graduation, she taught school in Sioux and Plymouth counties for 14 years.

She married Russell E. Huff June 2, 1943, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hawarden. She was a housewife on their farm in Union County, South Dakota, until 1964 when she began working at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center. For the next 14 years she worked as a nurse's aide until her retirement in 1978. In 1985, Mrs. Huff moved from Union county to Akron. She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hawarden until 1943. Since that time, she was a member of Brule Creek Lutheran Church. Mrs. Huff entered the Akron City Convalescent Care Center September 18, 1994.

She is survived by one son, Lawrence R. Huff and his wife, Jaynette, of Conway, Arkansas; three step-children, Eldon Huff of Akron, Lorraine Gabbert and her husband Charles of Park Rapids, Minnesota, and Shirley Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hannah Johnson of Le Mars, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Elizabeth Meether; and a brother, Lawrence Tieden.

Services were at Brule Creek Lutheran Church, rural Elk Point, South Dakota with the Reverend Leslie Hernes, Officiating, Monday, February 6, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation was February 5, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services were conducted by Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron.
