Remains Brought here for Burial
The remains of Mrs. Christie Bennett, who died at Miller SD, last Thursday Oct 13th were brought here Monday, accompanied by the nieces of the deceased. Mrs. Bennett was well an favorably know to the older residents here, having resided in Ireton more than a quarter of a century. She was very active in her early years in educational and religious affairs and many here remember with fondness when they were in her Sunday school class. Always earnest with the highest ideals which she sought to implant in the youth around her. She was gifted in many ways and her talents were not hidden but she was ever ready to let others profit by them. A beautiful Christian life well lived with a faith that overcome al obstacles and hopes that were realized.

Christie L. Montgomery was born at Malpanque, Prince Edward Island Canada, Aug 14, 1855, and passed away at Miller SD Oct 13, 1927 at the age of 72 years and 2 months. She taught in the public schools in Canada for a number of years. She came to the United States in 1884 and she continued the work of her profession after coming to the states. She was employed as a teacher in the public schools of Ireton for some time which position she resigned to be married Burleigh P. Bennett on April 25, 1888, at Aurora IL.

Mrs. Bennett united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Ireton in March, 1903, She continued to make her home at Ireton until 1910 when she moved to Miller, S. D., where she resided until her death. She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs. Nancy Craig of Prince Edward Island, Canada; and three brothers, B. C. Montgomery of Minneapolis; Gordon Montgomery of Florida; and Dan Montgomery of Iowa.

The remains were met at the afternoon train last Thursday and conveyed to the local cemetery where brief services were held, in, charge of Rev. Wm. P. Webb. About fifty relatives and old time friends attended the services of the deceased
