From the Hull Index, December 22, 1911: Sioux Center news:

Word reached here Sunday that Martin, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris. Cordsen had died at his home in Concordia, Missouri. The boy had spent Thanksgiving with his parents and in the afternoon he and some friends had gone out hunting. He had carried his gun by the end of the barrel and in setting it down on the ground it was discharged, blowing off two of his finders, part of one cheek and blowing out one of his eyes, from the effects of which he later died. The Cordsens formerly lived in this vicinity and have many friends here who sympathize with them in their bereavement. Hans Moeller left Monday morning to attend the funeral.

A news note in the Rock Valley Bee, December 22, 1911 (Plato Township news), appears to also pertain to this boy's death, but the first half of the note is missing from this damaged paper. The latter half of the article says that he was born and raised in this vicinity and has left a host of friends to mourn in Sioux County. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of all in their sorrow. Martin Moeller of Center twp., Hans Moeller of Plato, also Peter Moeller departed Monday morning to attend the funeral.
