DEATH RELIEVES LONG SUFFERING

MRS. JOHN KEMNER DIED AT HER HOME TUESDAY
_______________________

Survived by Husband and Three Sons-----Funeral Services Will Be Held at Lutheran Church Friday
____________________

Mrs. John Kemner passed away at her home, three miles southeast of Hawarden, at 12:30 Tuesday afternoon following a lingering illness of several years from cancer. For almost a year she had been bed-ridden and almost entirely helpless. Although everything that was humanly possible was done to relieve her of the dread malady, yet the ravages of the disease could not be stayed and death finally ended her long suffering. Throughout her long illness she bore her cross with genuine Christian fortitude. Funeral services will be held at the home at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon and at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church in this city. Owing to the illness of Rev. Geo. Steinkamp the services will be conducted by Rev. J. E. Rich Schmidt, pastor of the Lutheran church at Ireton. Interment will be made in the Hawarden cemetery.
Mary Heitkamp was born near Osnabrueck, Germany, April 18, 1879, so at te time of her death was 43 years, 11 months and 7 days old. In early infancy she was baptized into the Christian faith and on April 16, 1898, she renewed her baptismal vow at the Lord's altar by confirmation. When she was only three years old her mother died and her father was also called away by death three years later when she was but six years old. An aunt then took the place of a mother to her and gave her a home and a Christian training. She was united in holy wedlock to John Kemner on March 3, 1904. With her husband she came to America in 1906 and shortly thereafter they took up their residence in this community. To this union three sons were born, Frederick, William and Louis, all of whom, together with the husband and father, mourn the death of a devoted wife and mother.
