Lorna Loutsch, 80, of Westfield, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa following a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. Reverend Roger Linnan and Deacon Richard Port will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Akron. Visitation with the family present will be after 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, with a Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 5:00 p.m., and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.

Lorna M. Kunkel was born March 24, 1934 in Alton, Iowa, the daughter of Edward J. and Mary (Boever) Kunkel. She attended school in Alton and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Alton.

She was united in marriage to Ronald A. Loutsch on June 16, 1953. They made their home on a farm near Westfield, farming and raising livestock. Ron passed away May 4, 2009.

Lorna was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where she was active in Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Ladies of St. Patrick’s. She enjoyed her involvement in 4-H for many years, helping her children with all their exhibits. Lorna supported her children and grandchildren in all of their projects and activities. She loved the times spent with them. She also enjoyed gardening. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children: RoseMary (Dan) Mullane of Bellevue, IL, Janice (Rick) Rolfes of Merrill, IA, Tony (Patti) Loutsch of Sioux City, IA, Danny Loutsch of Westfield, Barb (Gary) Heeren of Akron, Judy Loutsch of Le Mars, IA, Phyllis (Bob) Newman of Le Mars, IA, Roger Loutsch of Westfield, Florence (John) Albrecht of Le Mars, IA, Margie Perry of Le Mars, IA, Tim Loutsch of Westfield, Georgia (Corey) Steen of Akron, Brian (Doris) Loutsch of Le Mars, IA, and Brad Loutsch of Westfield; a daughter in law: Denise Loutsch-Beitelspacher (Kelly) of Akron; 31 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother: Darrel (Vida) Kunkel of Sioux City, IA; a sister: LaVonne Fiedler of Remsen, IA; a brother in law: Raymond Cox of Thorton, CO; a sister in law: Barb Kunkel of Moville, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald; a son: Joseph Loutsch; a son in law: Brent Perry; a brother: Paul Kunkel; a sister: Pearl Cox; and a brother in law: Roman Fiedler.
