Rock Valley, IA: Kathryn Mulder, 94, of Rock Valley, Iowa died Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 at the United Reformed Church with Rev. Joel Vander Kooi officiating. Private family burial will be held prior to the memorial service. Visitation with the family present will be 7:00-8:30 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the United Reformed Church. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Kathryn Mulder was born August 1, 1920 in Colton, SD to Peter and Tryntje (Mantle) Swier. Kathryn married Ben Mulder Jr. on September 4, 1941 at Doon, Iowa. Together they farmed near Hull before farming near Doon. Kathryn helped Ben on the farm while raising their 4 children. Ben died October 21, 1992. She was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church and most recently a member of the United Reformed Church. Kathryn was an excellent baker and enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens.

Kathryn is survived by her sons, Daniel (Maggie) Mulder of Doon, Philip (Laura) Mulder of Doon, and Duane Mulder of Brookings, SD; daughter, JoAnn (Bob) Foster of Ridgecrest, CA; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Dianne Mulder of Badger, SD; sister, Ann Fisher of Chicago Heights, IL; brother-in-law, Johnny Den Boer of Rock Valley; and sisters-in-law, Jo Mulder of Rushmore, MN and Fannie Swier of Colton, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; 2 grandchildren, Keith and Christy Mulder; 7 brothers; and 5 sisters.
