Harold William Kreykes, 61, of Sanborn died Monday, February 11, 1991, at a hospital in Dallas, Texas, the victim of a shooting.

Services were held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 15, at Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn with the Reverend Stuart Hastine officiating. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery at Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kreykes, the son of William and Grace (Uittenbogaard) Kreykes, was born July 16, 1929, at Hospers. He lived his youth in Hospers, Sheldon and Sanborn and attended Sanborn Schools. He married Ida Elgersma January 25, 1851, at Sanborn. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. The couple farmed near Hartley until 1965 when they moved to Sanborn where he operated a trucking business. He later worked for E & R Construction at Sanborn and for the last 14 years had been employed at AMPI of Sanborn.

Mr. Kreykes was a member of Sanborn Christian Reformed Church where he had served on the Consistory. He was a past member of the Sanborn Christian School Board and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Ida; a son and his wife, Dr. Edwin J. Kreykes and Sandy of Sanborn; two daughters and their husbands, Sue K. and Alvin LeLoux and Sandi and Dave DeZeeuw, all of Rock Valley; eight grandchildren, Heather and Holly Kreykes, Jay, Lisa, and Dawn Leloux, and Kent, Kristi and Karmen DeZeeuw; his mother, Grace Kreykes of Primghar; a brother, Bill Kreykes of Providence, Rode Island; and five sisters< Mrs. Mitch (Matilda) Vander Tuig and Mrs. Dick (Bonnie) Admire, both of Primghar, Mrs. Mike (Arlene) Rota of Buena, Pa, California, Edna Hilliard of Palm Desert, California, and Bud (Betty) Wilch of Ashland, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Arnold.
