Jennie Kempema, 86, of Rock Valley, died Thursday, July 23, 1992, at a Rock Valley nursing home. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley, with the Reverend C. Eric Fennema officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery with Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kempema was born April 26, 1906, near Lebanon, Iowa, daughter of John and Alice (Dykstra) Harmsen. She married Ernest Kempema Jan. 19, 1928, at Lebanon. They lived at Boyden, Ireton, Hawarden, Luverne, Minnesota, and Sioux Center, before they began farming near Rock Valley in 1958. They moved to Rock Valley in 1964 and to the Valley Manor September 18, 1987. Mr. Kempema died April 27, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Richard of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and John E. of Rock Valley; four daughters, Mrs. Ben (Hermina) Boon of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Floyd (Eleanor) Nyenhuis of Sioux Falls, Mrs. LeRoy (Jane) Koedam of Rock Valley and Mrs. Larry (Ruth) Klingenberg of Worthington, Minnesota; 22 grandchildren and 29 greatgrandchildren.
