Mrs. Anna Hyink, 91, of Alton, a resident of Sioux County for 70 years, died January 31, 1958.
Funeral services were held on Tues. afternoon of last week at the Presbyterian church in Alton with Rev. Marl Witmer officiating. Interment was in the Newkirk Cemetery.
Last fall two of her daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Teeslink and Mrs. Nelvina Horne of Los Angeles, came and spent the winter with her and remained with her until her death.
Anna Brasser was born in Gibbsville, Wis. July 4, 1866. At the age of 18 she came to Boyden to care for her sister, Mrs. Joseph Hyink, and her two small boys. Following the death of her sister, she returned to Wis, taking the two children with her. Later she married Mr. Hyink and returned to Sioux County.
The family lived at Newkirk and Sioux Center where Mr. Hyink was in business. Later the family moved to Alton, where Mr. Hyink operated a general store.
Survivors include two stepsons, Henry of Pittsburg, KS. and B. J. Hyink of Glendale, CA; five daughters and three sons, Mrs. Jeanette Teeslink, Mrs. Nelvina Horne and William of Los Angeles, Mrs. Andrew Van Nimwegen of Alton, Mrs. E.H. Carey of Le Mars, Mrs. Hugh Bain of Ramona, CA. Robert of Atlanta, GA, and Joseph of La Mesa, CA; 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. All ten of her children attended her funeral.
