Sioux Center News, August 25, 1955

Mrs. Tena Moss passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Boone, Woodbine, Iowa, Wednesday evening, Aug. 17, 1955. Mrs. Moss was confined to her bed the past five years.

Mrs. Moss was a long time resident of Rock Valley and an active member of the Reformed Church for many years.

She was born in Chicago, IL, March 1, 1873. When she was 20 years old she moved with her parents to Rock Valley. Here she spent the remainder of her life.

She married Albert Bonthuis March 1, 1894, and he died in 1926. Nine children were born, one of whom died in infancy.

The children surviving are: Allen, Alice (Mrs. H. J. Vande Weerd), Peter, Asa, Martin, Dena (Mrs. Henry Boone), Fred and Dorothy (Mrs. Guys Kuyper). There are also 27 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

In 1931 she married Albert Moss, who passed away in 1936. He died suddenly while working in the hay field.

Mrs. Moss is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ida Johnson of Sacramento, CA; Mrs. Kathryn Bonthuis, Bellflower, CA; and three brothers, Dr. John Mulder, Salmon, Idaho; Henry of Kimberly, Idaho, and Peter of Eden, Idaho.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 and 2:00 in the Vander Ploeg Funeral chapel and the First Reformed church with Rev. A. A. Dykstra officiating.

Interment was made in Valley cemetery.
